Paper – Find ‘something’ interesting about paper and come up with an experimental and visually playful outcome. This ‘something’ was to be concise, and ideally could be communicated in under 20 words. Once the proposition is determined, play with ideas, experiment with media and produce an engaging visual solution.
The Chinese saw paper making as such a valuable skill that they kept it a secret for 600 years – The result of this proposition was a hand made paper lantern, which included illustrations cut out of paper using a technique widely used in China. The idea of the lantern was to bring this fact to “light” and reveal the techniques behind early Chinese paper making.
